The School Mum Edit Business Circle - Launch Event

Why We Are Launching The TSME Business Circle?

A few weeks ago, Laura and I sat around a brunch table at Cecconi's Bicester Village with Claire, the Operations Manager at Lighthouse Designs, who Carly knew from primary school, alongside Fiona, a financial adviser, and Lorraine, a brilliant marketing and brand expert, both of whom Claire had invited along.

They were all interesting, experienced and inspiring women from completely different worlds. What started as a relaxed brunch quickly became one of those conversations you leave feeling genuinely energised by.

The conversation flowed naturally between careers, business, children, ambition, reinvention, confidence, finances, opportunities and female empowerment and the challenge so many women face trying to balance personal ambition alongside family life.

Afterwards, Laura and I both said exactly the same thing:

“We need to do this for The School Mum Edit. We need to bring our brilliant mums in business together.”

Because the reality is that so many conversations between brilliant school mums happen only in fragments. On the sidelines of sport. Over rushed coffees after drop-off. In car parks. Between school emails and daily logistics. And rarely do those conversations properly move into business, ambition, ideas or future plans.

Yet behind every school gate and within the wider circles around school communities are extraordinary women doing extraordinary things: Women running businesses. Women leading companies. Women returning to work. Women looking for a new challenge or fresh inspiration. Women with incredible experience, knowledge and networks who simply do not often find themselves in rooms together long enough for those connections to properly grow.

So after that brunch, we decided to do a very small soft launch locally. Nothing formal. No awkward networking. No pressure. Just a small group of women coming together for good conversation and brunch after drop-off in a fabulous setting.

And honestly, we came away feeling hugely inspired by it. The openness in the room. The support between women. The ideas being shared. The genuine willingness to help one another. It felt refreshing and, if we are honest, surprisingly needed.

We exchanged contacts. Shared advice. Offered support. Discussed opportunities. And most importantly, everyone left feeling uplifted and energised.

That was the moment we realised this could become something really special. Not a traditional networking group. Not transactional. But a thoughtful, welcoming and intelligent community for women who want meaningful connection, inspiring conversation and a supportive space to explore ideas, opportunities and the next chapter of life and if nothing else, a great brunch.

What is The School Mum Edit Business Circle?

The School Mum Edit’s first Business Circle in Oxfordshire is a welcoming space where you can come alone or with a friend. A space where relationships can grow naturally and conversations can move beyond the practicalities of school life into something bigger. We hope it leads to friendships, collaborations, opportunities, confidence and support. Perhaps even opportunities for our children through the networks we build together. Most of all, we hope it reminds women that this stage of life can still be full of ambition, creativity, reinvention and exciting new possibilities.

And honestly, we cannot think of a better place to begin than around a brunch table at Cecconi’s in Bicester Village. We are so excited to continue those original conversations with Claire, Fiona and Lorraine and to welcome many more brilliant local mumpreneurs from Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and beyond: women in business and women looking for a fresh direction to our launch brunch.

If you would like to come along to our next business event, please get in touch or head over to our events page to find out more. We would love to welcome you.
