The Cotswolds’ Most Talked-About Pub Has Arrived at Bicester Village — and We’re Going!
We are delighted to announce that The Double Red Duke is the setting for our next School Mum Edit Business Circle Brunch.
What do Kate Moss, Jeremy Clarkson, Premier League footballers and some of the Cotswolds’ most fashionable residents reportedly have in common? They have all been linked in press reports with the original Double Red Duke in Clanfield—a stylish country inn that has become almost as well known for its crowd and interiors as it is for its food.
Now The Double Red Duke has brought that same mix of Cotswolds charm, metropolitan polish and relaxed hospitality to Bicester Village. Naturally, The School Mum Edit had to investigate. Even better, we’ve secured its private dining room for our next Business Circle Brunch.
From Cotswolds coaching inn to celebrity hotspot
The original Double Red Duke is a historic coaching inn in the Oxfordshire village of Clanfield, reimagined by husband-and-wife hospitality duo Sam and Georgie Pearman. With roaring fires, ruby-red velvet, modern art, striped parasols and beautifully designed rooms, it has been described by Condé Nast Traveller as a country pub given a distinctly metropolitan sheen.
The press has called it one of the country’s hippest hotels and restaurants, while reports of famous visitors have included Kate Moss, Jeremy Clarkson, Premier League footballers and numerous influencers.
But its reputation isn’t built on famous faces alone: The Clanfield restaurant was named one of the UK’s Top 50 Gastropubs in 2025. Its culinary pedigree includes executive chef Henrik Ritzén, who previously led the kitchen at London’s Aquavit when it achieved a Michelin star, alongside guest-chef appearances from names including Thomasina Miers and Richard Corrigan. This is a place with proper substance beneath the style.
The Duke comes to Bicester Village
The Bicester Village restaurant opened in November 2025, bringing the spirit of the Clanfield original to one of Oxfordshire’s most glamorous destinations. Its open kitchen sits at the heart of the restaurant, with a menu centred around seasonal British ingredients and cooking over flame. The interiors combine polished wood, comfortable country chairs, warm colours and cosy corners to create somewhere that feels fashionable but never overly formal.
One local review summed it up rather perfectly: “sexy, sassy and fun.” Which sounds like an excellent setting for The School Mum Edit.
More than networking
On Tuesday 22 September, we’ll be bringing together another brilliant group of local women for a relaxed morning of brunch, conversation and meaningful new connections. The School Mum Edit Business Circle is for women building businesses, developing careers, freelancing, returning to work—or simply beginning to wonder what their next chapter might look like.
This isn’t formal networking. There are no awkward elevator pitches and no expectation that you must arrive with a polished business plan or impressive job title. It’s a warm, welcoming space where women can meet, talk honestly, exchange ideas, make connections and perhaps discover the inspiration or introduction that helps something new begin.
Come with a friend or come alone. You will be equally welcome.
What’s included?
Your £35 ticket includes a hot drink and your choice of:
Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs
Poached eggs and avocado on sourdough
Greek yoghurt and granola
Fresh fruit plate
We’ll be together in the restaurant’s private dining room from 9:30am until 11am—with Bicester Village waiting just outside should anyone feel like extending the morning.
